Job Description:
Come join a creative team of Operations Technology Engineers that builds the wired and wireless networks powering Amazon fulfillment centers and transportation sites worldwide.
We are looking for Network Development Engineers to provide technical thought leadership in the design of our next-generation networks, which will support an ecosystem of robotics, industrial IoT, sensors, drones, and mobile devices.
This role is ideal for those experienced in automation via Bash/Shell scripting and Perl/Python programming, comfortable making data-driven decisions, and iterating on designs to deliver robust systems that elegantly scale.
The position involves operating the largest fulfillment network in the world, providing guidance to and mentoring network support teams to develop their skills and reinforce best practices.
Network reliability is critical to Amazon Operations, and your responsibilities will include driving root cause resolution of network events most impactful to the business.
About the Team:
The OTIE LAN Ops & Reliability Team supports multiple business units globally, from small delivery stations in emerging markets to advanced automated fulfillment centers in North America, Japan, and Europe.
This group enjoys variety in both short-term innovation and long-term strategic projects, offering a unique opportunity to grow skills as an engineer and have a lasting impact on Amazon's fulfillment networks.
Responsibilities:
* Drive root cause resolution of network events most impactful to the business
* Mentor network support teams to develop their skills and reinforce best practices
* Provide technical thought leadership in the design of next-generation networks
* Operate the largest fulfillment network in the world
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area
* Experience in automation via Bash/Shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
* Design, implementation, and documentation experience
* Designing and operating large-scale production networks
* Major routing protocols (OSPF)
* Routing and switching hardware from major vendors (Juniper and Cisco)
* Ability to work on a diverse team
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Computer Science or related area
* Development and delivery of large-scale designs in data center networks
* IPv6 design and implementations
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proficiency in wide area networking (including SDWAN), wireless networking, and industrial Ethernet
* Expertise in information security for industrial control systems
