Rotational Mental Health Occupational Therapist staff grade post Organisation Highfield Healthcare which incorporates Highfield Hospital and Hampstead Clinic Services, the Approved Centre registered by the Mental Health Commission and Nursing Home Services including the Alzheimer Care Centre registered by HIQA.
Reporting relationship The post holder is responsible to the Team Lead or Senior Occupational Therapists supervisor/nominee as appropriate.
Job Summary We are currently recruiting 1 staff grade OT positions on our newly developed mental health rotation.
1) Specialised Rehabilitation Unit (21 beds across 2 units) Specialist Rehabilitation Service is a national tertiary referral service for persons who experience treatment resistant psychosis and have spent prolonged periods of time in inpatient care.
The service focuses on psychiatric rehabilitation and personal recovery supporting the service users to achieve meaningful personal goals in terms of connecting with their communities, families, and occupation with the aim of "living well" with their mental health distress.
2) Acute Inpatient (PLL) Community dwelling older adults acute admission to support treatment for MH conditions & onward community liaison & referrals.
The post will involve facilitation of groups, 1:1 assessment & intervention as well as family supports.
3) Long Stay Mental Health (3 units, 60 beds) Older adults with chronic & enduring MH with comorbid physical health disorders & Dementia syndromes.
This post requires assessment for non-pharmacological interventions for this population; group delivery & facilitation, 1:1 engagement.
Interdisciplinary working as required i.e.
music therapy, art therapy & physiotherapy.
This post will be supported by an OT Assistant.
These posts form part of a wider rotation with opportunities to experience services into Acute Adult Inpatients, Day Hospital and Home Based Treatment Services across Highfield Healthcare Mental Health Services.
Rotational opportunities occur every 9 months and are organised flexibly, taking into account post holders preferences.
Please note that the Staff Grade occupational therapist may be required to work in different service areas within Highfield Healthcare and to provide cross cover when required.
