Our Purpose
At our Research & Development Department in Medtronic, plc, in Galway Ireland we focus on the development of cutting-edge medical devices in the Coronary, Structural Heart, PVH, Cardiac Rhythm Management and Neuromodulation space. Our Engineers in Galway are directly involved in the development of innovative products for use in medical procedures.
This is an extremely exciting time for this organization as we focus on dealing with the growing opportunity to provide new, minimally invasive, treatment options to more patients.
This Senior R&D (Research and Development) Manager role will be responsible for the development of a large Engineering organization and be responsible for our Interventional Pain therapy area, working with cross functional partners within the OU (Organization Unit) on the development of strategies and our product pipeline.
Medtronic pioneered the field of neuromodulation with the first commercially available spinal cord stimulator (SCS) to treat chronic pain and engineered the first deep brain stimulation (DBS) system to treat movement disorders such as Parkinson’s. We also designed the first implantable drug pump to deliver medication directly to the intrathecal space in the spine as well as developing the field of balloon Kyphoplasty to treat vertebral compression fractures.
After more than 40 years of firsts, we continue to innovate, constantly challenging ourselves to disrupt the markets we created. We advance science by thinking and acting boldly, bringing together the right people with the right breadth of expertise to engineer groundbreaking therapies & technologies.
