AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
In this role you will be an integral part of the Water SME team within AWS but strongly support Water and water treatment for our on-site designs, supporting our engineering team. You will influence and own onsite design standards and influence water chemistry and treatment, coordinating with design engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance for our global fleet of data centres. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, detail, and document the various water treatment features that our facilities require, using both prescriptive and performance-based design approaches.
This role will take primary responsibility for the on-site design to ensure safe drinking waters, water treatment plant process design for industrial, and discharge compliance with environmental regulators. As an Owner, you will strive to ensure the water treatment features of our buildings protect our people and keep our customer’s data safe and uninterrupted over the life of the building.
Primary responsibilities will be to perform and oversee project-related work, such as water supply analysis and design for buildings, including coordination with utilities to establish basic site infrastructure requirements. You will be responsible to produce the water related design deliverables for site development aligned with DCE team design development. Support and review planning documentation submissions to ensure external submissions relating to water management on-site is aligned between mechanical and civil disciplines and consistent with local requirements and water laws.
You will work alongside DCE and their design contractors to ensure that our data centres have safe drinking water systems, effective industrial treatment (where required) and correctly size distribution and drainage networks sufficient to comply with local water laws across EMEA. You will be responsible for the improvement of water related BOD inputs inclusive of design documentation, process and system disinfection (statutory requirement), and support the improved procurement of water systems for delivery (LLE and Early Specialist Contract selection/involvement during delivery).
Key job responsibilities

•Work with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
•Be responsible for providing high quality water treatment advice on a wide variety of projects while working with global Mechanical engineering teams to achieve alignment of water treatment systems objectives.
•Be the STO for on-site water system design and ensuring that on-site design complies with national water law and environmental permitting conditions, inclusive of stormwater management and fire water retention.
•Prepare early stage water related “Owners Requirements” documentation and work with Procurement teams to create a mechanism via RFQ for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) in the Specialist Water Contractor (SWC) scope.
•Coordinating with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries.
•Be responsible for code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation and assessment, testing, inspections, and submittal review. Meet with AHJs as needed to ensure approval of on-site water management and treatment features.
•Ensure that prior to PFHO the water systems have been disinfected to national and statutory requirements, water meters are installed commissioned and calibrated correctly, water treatment plant is commissioned and delivering required outputs (flow&quality) and able to maintain discharges below the discharge permit conditions.
