Construction Project Manager (Public Sector)
This is an exciting opportunity to join our client, a public sector body, as a Project Manager in their Capital & Estates Department in the South East.
The successful candidate will provide professional, technical, project management, property, energy, sustainability, fire and safety services for the procurement, development, operation, and maintenance of the client's physical infrastructure.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Prepare specifications, drawings, and contract documents for Capital Projects.
* Collaborate with design teams and contractors to develop proposals.
* Develop action plans for timely contract completion, coordinating tender and control stages.
* Supervise staff and contractors in program implementation.
* Work with service management and nurse planners to ensure timely establishment and support of the equipping/commissioning team.
* Manage and control project timescales, budgets, and quality standards.
* Anticipate and address difficulties and problems during project phases, commissioning, and vacating.
* Control expenditure on assigned projects, including presentations to senior management.
* Ensure appropriate maintenance arrangements for new buildings.
* Prepare comprehensive project briefs in consultation with relevant personnel.
* Facilitate consultation processes and meetings for project completion.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Act as senior administrative officer for project management, resolving issues as needed.
* Define requirements for design services, buildings, and equipment.
* Provide advice on the selection of design teams, professional services, and contractors, managing procurement processes.
Requirements:
* Hold a Level 8 (or higher) Quality & Qualifications Ireland major academic award in Architecture, Engineering or Surveying accredited by the relevant Professional Institute (Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Engineers Ireland, Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland).
* Or have Membership of the relevant professional association: Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Engineers Ireland, Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland.
* Or be eligible for registration under the Building Control Act 2007, without requiring further assessment as it applies to your qualified discipline.
Knowledge & Experience:
* A high level of knowledge and experience of the construction of buildings and building services and an understanding of the maintenance requirements.
* Leadership and team management skills including the ability to work with multi-disciplinary team members and also the ability to motivate, train, develop and manage staff.
* Effective communication skills including: the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner; the ability to facilitate and manage groups through the learning process; the ability to give constructive feedback to encourage learning.
