ATG are seeking a highly motivated Ecologist/Ornithologist to join a dynamic environmental consultancy team. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting ornithological and ecological surveys, reporting on environmental impacts, and providing expert advice to clients in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and conservation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct field surveys, including bird surveys (breeding bird surveys, wintering bird surveys, vantage point surveys) and general ecological surveys.
* Prepare high-quality reports, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Appropriate Assessments (AA), and Habitat Management Plans.
* Provide ecological expertise in planning applications, conservation projects, and biodiversity action plans.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with Irish and EU wildlife and environmental legislation.
* Contribute to research and monitoring projects to enhance biodiversity conservation.
* Manage and analyse ecological data using GIS and statistical software.
Minimum Requirements:
* Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, or a related field.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in ornithological/ecological surveying and assessment.
* Strong knowledge of Irish and EU wildlife legislation and ecological best practices.
* Proficiency in bird identification by sight and sound across different seasons.
* Experience in report writing, impact assessments, and environmental planning.
* Competency in GIS and data analysis tools.
* Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
