Tobin is a leading engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality structural engineering solutions.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Structural Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dublin as a project-level engineer.
You will be working on a variety of projects across the built environment, from residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare buildings to water retaining and wind farm infrastructure.
To be successful in this role, you should have a Chartered Engineer status with 8 to 12 years of experience and a strong understanding of mechanics and structural design principles.
Core Competency
* Hold a Degree Level 8 in Civil Engineering or higher, preferably with a focus on Structural Engineering in the syllabus.
* Be a Chartered Engineer.
* Have between 8 and 12 years of relevant experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of tender documents and tender assessments.
* Design Eurocodes for steel, timber, concrete, and masonry, including overseeing design tasks delegated to design engineers and graduate engineers.
* Handle more complex designs such as deep foundations, transfer structures, torsional beams, and flat slabs.
* Prepare calculation packages for hand-based and computer-based designs and check calculations carried out by design engineers and graduate engineers.
* Prepare specification documents.
* Oversee the preparation of technical reports and collaborate with other disciplines and stakeholders.
* Supervise the development of drawings, review Navisworks and Revit models, and coordinate with other disciplines.
* Communicate effectively with other members of the design team.
* Follow quality management procedures, including timesheet management and mentoring junior team members in QMS procedures.
* Adhere to safety procedures.
* Prepare designer assessment of risk forms and liaise with the PSDP.
* Conduct site inspections, prepare BCAR reports, and assist in ancillary certificate preparations.
Key Skills
* Have an excellent understanding of the basics of mechanics and a strong grasp of complex structural design principles. Assist both graduate and design engineers in their understanding of mechanics.
* Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Show strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage delegated tasks to ensure timely delivery. Proficient in delegating and monitoring tasks for junior team members.
* Ability to keep track of deadlines and project milestones.
* Assist with project financial management, including WBS, invoicing, and periodic reviews. Understands fee proposals and project scopes.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
* Strong ability to use finite element packages such as Autodesk Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, CADS A3D, and other standalone design packages, including CADS Masonry panel designer and Tedds Designs.
