Overview
Opportunity for a Mechanical Pre-Commissioning Engineer to join the Life Science team in Dublin. The Mechanical Pre-Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the pre-commissioning activities of mechanical systems and equipment to ensure proper installation, testing, and preparation for commissioning. This role involves working closely with project teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure that all mechanical systems meet project requirements and are ready for safe and efficient operation. Responsibilities
Develop and implement pre-commissioning procedures and checklists for mechanical systems, including pumps, piping systems, HVAC, compressors, and rotating equipment.Coordinate pre-commissioning activities with construction, commissioning, and operations teams.Conduct and supervise mechanical system testing, flushing, hydrostatic tests, pneumatic tests, and leak tests.Ensure that all testing activities comply with safety standards, project requirements, and industry regulations.Witness and document the performance of pre-commissioning tests.Maintain comprehensive records of pre-commissioning activities, including test reports, punch lists, and inspection records.Prepare and submit daily and weekly progress reports.Ensure that mechanical installations meet design specifications and industry standards.Identify and resolve any discrepancies or defects in collaboration with construction teams.Assist in the smooth handover of systems from construction to commissioning teams.Ensure punch lists are completed, and systems are properly configured for commissioning.Promote a strong safety culture during all pre-commissioning activities.Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
Experience
Minimum of (5-10 years) of experience in mechanical pre-commissioning or commissioning in oil & gas, power, water treatment, or industrial projects.Experience in large-scale projects is highly desirable.Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment, and pre-commissioning processes.Proficient in interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Certification in mechanical commissioning or related areas is an advantage.Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., OSHA) and best practices.
