Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must:
* Hold NISCC registration
* Have Enhanced Access NI clearance
* Have 6-12 months previous Social Care experience
* Have previous experience within Children and Families (highly advantageous)
* Hold a Social Work Degree, BTEC, or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
* Be willing to undergo an Occupational Health check, including submission of immunisation records as required
* Hold a valid UK driving licence
* Be an effective communicator
* Be able to prioritise and manage a varied caseload
* Be able to build rapport with parents, young people, and social care professionals
Responsibilities
As a Social Work Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
* Assisting social work managers in providing quality social work services to children and families
* Working within a Children's Services Team to undertake tasks allocated by the Social Work Team Manager to support social workers in discharging their duties
* Undertaking work with children and/or parents/carers as directed by the Social Work Manager, Senior Social Work Practitioner, or Social Worker, in keeping with any support/protection/care plan and in their family support cases
* Completing tasks such as coordinating family support, diversionary, and respite services, sourcing appropriate family support services and other resources
* Collating essential information about children and families and reporting this back to the Social Worker/Team Manager to assist in assessing the families' circumstances and needs
* Assisting children and/or parents/carers with practical tasks, including transport in respect of identified appointments, delivering advice and guidance in relation to parenting tasks, such as routines and boundaries, behaviour management, homecare management, budgeting, and essential form filling as necessary
* Assisting in the delivery of contact services, including the supervision of contact arrangements
* Reporting to the Team Manager and/or Social Worker immediately all identified child protection concerns or other areas of concern or risk identified
* Supporting social work staff as requested with administrative tasks in relation to making referrals to other agencies, setting up meetings, making arrangements for family time, including room bookings, and supporting with duty tasks
