CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER 3 (CNM3) St.
Oliver's Endoscopy Unit Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours The CNM3 is accountable to the Director of Nursing and professionally accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that the requirements of NMBI for the practice of professional nursing are met and upheld at all times.
Promote continuing post-graduate, professional development of staff, taking account of planned service developments, annual staff training needs analysis and situation-specific service needs.
Plan, implement and participate in in-service training programmes, including short post-basic courses on specific topics.
Keep up to date with relevant nursing literature, recent research and new developments in Endoscopy Nursing management, education and practice.
Ensure the Endoscopy Unit is managed in a cost effective and efficient manner while maintaining a high standard of surgical patient care.
Participate in the Nurse Management Team in the effective management of services.
Assist in the development and the effective operation of all assigned services; through effective forward planning and organisation of resources and workload.
Ensure that every effort is made to meet National Key Performance Indicators and targets relating to the Endoscopy Service. Liaise closely with Consultants, CNM2s Senior Nursing Staff and multidisciplinary team members to effectively utilise resources. Ensure performance indicators pertinent to the Endoscopy Unit are developed, monitored and maintained. Assist in devising service plans for the area and adherence to budgets through financial awareness. Foster a clinical learning environment within the clinical area. Supervise and ensure that the student assessments in their practical clinical placements are completed (pre and postgraduate). Liaise and co-operate with the Centre for Nurse Education and appropriate third level institutions.
Support the development and expansion of nursing roles as a mechanism for improving patient experience and advancing national clinical care programmes.
Maintain own clinical competence to ensure clinical credibility.
Eligibility Criteria:
Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI / Bord Altranais agus Cnimhseachais na hireann) or entitled to be so registered.
Have at least 5 years post registration full time (or an aggregate of 5 years post registration full time) experience of which 2 years (or an aggregate of 2 years post registration full time experience) must be in the gastroenterology speciality or related area.
Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
