Role Summary:
A well-established organisation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial aspects of the business and drive financial strategy and planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the manufacturing sector and will play a key role in supporting strategic decisions and ensuring robust financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts with detailed variance analysis.
* Monitor key financial KPIs and deliver insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
* Maintain accurate costing systems and ensure product margins are well understood and safeguarded.
* Collaborate with department leads to support cost control initiatives and operational efficiencies.
* Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including indirect taxes, payroll, and audit requirements.
* Lead and develop the finance team, fostering best practices and continuous improvement.
* Direct the annual budgeting and long-term financial planning processes.
* Coordinate with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
* Oversee stock valuation processes across materials, work-in-progress, and finished inventory.
* Maintain and review inventory costing methodologies (e.g. standard, weighted average, FIFO), ensuring alignment with operational activities.
* Lead inventory controls, including periodic stock takes and cycle counts, and investigate variances.
* Analyse and report on inventory performance, including slow-moving or obsolete stock, and recommend adjustments.
* Ensure inventory is accurately reflected in both management and statutory accounts.
* Uphold internal controls and risk management standards.
* Provide financial input on capital projects, funding opportunities, and regulatory reporting.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong commercial acumen and understanding of production-related cost structures.
