Job Summary: In this role, you will provide strategic direction and management oversight to the Strategic program team within the Drug Delivery Devise OU. This individual applies their expertise to plan, lead, organize and support Operations strategic direction and metrics associated with the governance and structure to the initiation and overall management of forecasted and new requested projects within the portfolios of West (Devices). This individual provides leadership and direction to a dedicated team to ensure key performance indicators such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Cost and People Management are achieved. That the execution of projects is to commitment and provide training and support to the project and program management team and placed a team member first focus to grow, manage and direct our project management team. The overall focus for this individual will be to provide leadership towards the resources focused on Devices in West and ensure early integration to new products being developed as well as line extensions with adjacent (R&D and Quality) are understood and resourced as needed. This individual will lead the DDD (Drug Delivery Device) OU Strategic Programs, which serves as the foundation for ensuring we have best in class Governance and Structure for Project execution. Primary function is to ensure the process is managed, communicated and that there is complete alignment within the DDD OU Leadership Governance team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Defines and develops this DDD OU strategies and plans, including succession planning.
2. Liaise with Site leaders, Regional Network heads and other Global functional heads to ensure that strategies, plans, and activities are integrated and aligned with the overall corporate objectives & forecasted projects from the Strategic Plan and presented.
3. Provides key support for tactical management of time tracking, PER spend and Resource Availability.
4. Ensure Operations can be supported when ‘Special Initiatives” arise with project leadership and support.
5. Work closely with DDD OU leadership to assess the needs for future projects.
6. Provide leadership and alignment to the DDD OU Governance team ensuring resource forecasting, projects and updates are maintained.
7. Leads, directs, evaluates, and develops the Global SME team to ensure that the Network strategy is implemented effectively, consistently, and according to established guidelines and policies. Assures compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
8. Estimate, Manage, Report on resource needs and any training needs.
9. Ensure the DDD OU Capex budget is tracking to forecast and facilitate PER discussions.
10. Ensure Program / Project Requests for Quoting / Development Agreement / I&T Requests and others, are all funneled through a standard process, communicated, and ensure alignment of Operations /R&D and Engineering prior to commitments to quoting or executing projects.
11. Stays current with advancements in related technology and standards applying for this industry.
12. Ensures best practice standards are developed for each process area, rolled out in the DDD OU and aligned to ESOP’s.
13. Required to deliver progress reports to the DDD OU Leadership.
14. Collaborates with leadership and stakeholders to establish program priorities to meet committed timelines. Interface with leadership and other key leadership to establish and communicate program priorities, status, and needs. Facilitates overall decision-making process through thorough knowledge of the Network, product portfolio, manufacturing processes and sites’ strategic direction. Assess risks, remove roadblocks, escalate issues, and propose solutions to senior leadership.
15. Ensures the use of Program Management Best Practices to manage overall scope, time, and budget. Drive accountability and execute programs to achieve committed milestones & deliverables.
16. Continuous improvement initiatives to standardize, streamline, and accelerate programs.
17. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
18. Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
1. Bachelors in Related field, Engineering or Applied Sciences.
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Operations & Project Management in the fields pharmaceutical manufacturing, Process engineering, Project Management or related field is required.
3. Experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Master’s degree preferred.
2. PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.
3. Experienced in leading international teams.
4. Fluent in English, other languages would be a plus.
5. Highly analytical and structured way of working.
6. Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
7. Result driven with strong ability to influence key stakeholders.
8. Good communicator with sound presentation skills.
9. Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target.
Travel Requirements:
Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Sedentary - exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
