Healthcare ChaplainBon Secours Hospital Limerick at Barringtons are pleased to invite applications for the position of Healthcare Chaplain.The Healthcare Chaplain will embody the Mission and Values that underpin the Bon Secours approach to compassionate, person-centred care, and it they will also promote an organisational ethos and culture that celebrates the human dignity of every individual within the hospital community.Bon Secours Health System is developing a new 150 bed medical facility in Ballysimon to the east of Limerick City. Building works are nearing completion with a plan to open this new state-of-the-art hospital in 2025. This commitment will see the expansion of surgical specialties currently delivered by Bon Secours Hospital Limerick at Barringtons, plus the addition of cardiology, MAU and other medical services.Post: Full-time permanent positionHours of work: 39 hours per week. Flexibility on hours of attendance in response to service needs and management requirements will be a key element of this role as the pastoral care service may be required across all seven days per week.Remuneration: €55,644-67,981 LSI.Our competitive compensation and benefits package is continually reviewed and adjusted in line with market trends.Job Requirements:A Degree in Theology (or a combined degree with Theology as a major subject) from a recognised theology faculty.3-units of CPE or H.Dip in Pastoral Theology (Healthcare Chaplaincy).Possess, or have applied for, certification as a Healthcare Chaplain by the Healthcare Chaplaincy Board.Minimum of two years providing pastoral care in the acute adult healthcare setting.Articulate and deliver person-centred care according to the principles of Catholic healthcare.Evidence of a mature integration of theology and effective pastoral practice.Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in responding appropriately to the spiritual and pastoral needs of patients & staff.Compassionate and purposeful spiritual accompaniment of patients and their families at End of Life.Ability to self-direct and prioritise competing work activities.Ability to work as part of a pastoral care team that is rostered across all 7 days.Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.Ability to contribute appropriately to meetings within a multi-disciplinary context.A routine of professional self-care.Role Responsibilities of the post include, and are not limited to:Provide spiritual, emotional, religious and cultural care to patients and their families in a variety of contexts e.g. pre/post-surgery, End of Life, bereavement, etc and within the multi-cultural and multi-faith context of the hospital.Ensure that the religious/sacramental needs of patients are met in keeping with the Bon Secours Mission, Values and Ethos.Explain and promote pastoral care services during staff learning and development activities such as induction of new staff, ongoing training days, etc.Assist with the care of the chapel and plan/participate in liturgical events.Maintain healthcare chaplaincy accreditation by completing annual CPD.Identify opportunities to improve the quality of the pastoral care service.Informal enquiries to: Alan Burke, Head of Mission, aburke@bonsecours.ie Closing date for receipt of applications is 12pm on Thursday 20th March 2025.How to apply:Please click on the Apply button aboveA Panel may be formed to fill future vacancies.BON SECOURS HEATH SYSTEM IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES EMPLOYER.
