Job Description
Under general supervision, maintain and provide a safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities i.e. the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures district wide.
Duties And Responsibilities
1. Ready to begin work at 7:00 am or the appointed hour.
2. Performs any and all assignments related to normal duties of a Journeyman Plumber.
3. Fills out required forms and orders materials and tools necessary to perform assignments.
4. Fills out necessary reports to properly document all material and labor extended on each job.
5. Checks daily to determine that assigned vehicle is in proper mechanical condition, being certain that vehicle has gas and oil. Reports any necessary mechanical or electrical repairs to supervisor. Be responsible for the upkeep and location of all inventory (tools, equipment and materials) assigned for the execution of work.
6. Performs duties unassisted.
7. Subject to being called to work before or after normal working hours in case of an emergency situation and be willing to work in whatever capacity needed to make the schools and board property safe for students and board employees.
8. Adheres to all Board of Education regulations.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Must have completed four (4) years of apprenticeship in plumbing.
2. Must have a valid state of Alabama Journeyman Plumbing Card.
3. Must have at least two (2) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber.
4. Must have at least two (2) years of experience as a journeyman in installing all types of commercial plumbing with specific work experiences installing of repairing large institutional plumbing systems.
5. Must have at least two (2) years of experience as a journeyman plumber in reading blueprints in the installation and repairing of all types of commercial plumbing. Be able to interpret scope of work from P & IDs and riser diagrams.
6. Must have at least (2) years of experience as a journeyman plumber in the cleaning of sewer lines.
7. Must have full knowledge of the operation of sewer machines.
8. Must have at least two (2) years experience as a Journeyman Plumber in the running and soldering of copper water lines.
9. Must have at least (2) years experience as a Journeyman Plumber in the installation and repairing all types of drainage pipes.
10. Must have a valid Alabama's Driver's license.
11. Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
