Job Title: Head of Finance and Operations
We are seeking a highly skilled candidate to lead our finance and operations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a unique blend of financial acumen, operational oversight, and a strong understanding of the arts and culture sector.
The Complex is a multidisciplinary arts centre in Dublin's north-west inner city, producing a full and varied schedule of 80+ events annually, including visual art exhibitions, theatre, live music, and dance performances.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Finance
* Budgeting and forecasting: Developing, managing, and monitoring budgets, including revenue forecasts and expenditure control, ensuring financial stability.
* Cash flow management: Ensuring healthy cash flow through careful planning, including managing the timing of income and expenditure.
* Financial reporting and compliance: Producing timely and accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial metrics, while ensuring compliance with local tax and regulatory requirements.
* Audit and risk management: Overseeing external audits, implementing internal controls, and identifying financial risks while devising mitigation strategies.
* Grant and funding management: Managing restricted and unrestricted funding, handling grants, sponsorships, and government support, common in arts organizations.
Operations
* Handling high-level, day-to-day operations and guiding the general strategy to improve overall business operations.
* Inspiring, motivating, and supporting a growing team in the presentation and production of high-quality arts and corporate events, exhibitions, and performances.
* Managing data collection for the updating of metrics to achieve audience and productivity targets, and delivering excellent customer service.
* Managing studio artists' leases and invoicing.
* Health and safety compliance: Ensuring the venue adheres to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially considering the unique operational requirements of arts events.
* Contract management: Handling contracts with artists, suppliers, and service providers, ensuring terms are favorable and risks are minimized.
* Venue and facility management: Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the arts venue, including managing staff, vendors, contractors, and service providers for the building's upkeep and compliance with safety standards.
* Event and programme logistics: Efficiently coordinating event logistics such as scheduling, staffing, ticketing, and technical setups for performances or exhibitions.
Communications
* Devising and implementing marketing campaigns for The Complex's multidisciplinary programme.
* Liaising with all separate event promoters to develop a streamlined approach to marketing their projects within the brand.
* Working with PR and press consultants to increase The Complex's visibility.
* Building audiences for theatre.
* Generating ticket sales for in-house productions.
* Collating a visual art audience database.
* Galvanizing relationships with local residents and businesses.
* Managing the website.
* Working with the in-house Graphic Designer to utilize and develop the brand.
* Managing the Communications and Digital Media Assistants.
* Assisting the Managing Director in procuring sponsors.
* Creating content and artwork for the website, social media, and print media using Canva.
Sector-Specific Knowledge
* Arts funding and revenue models: Understanding the unique revenue models in the arts in Ireland, including public grants, philanthropic donations, box office sales, and sponsorships.
* Audience development: Collaborating with marketing and programming teams to understand audience behaviors, preferences, and trends, in order to optimize operational and financial strategies.
* Partnership development: Building partnerships with cultural institutions, sponsors, government agencies, and community organizations to enhance the venue's profile and funding sources.
Requirements
* 5 years of arts management experience, including securing Arts Council (and other) grants.
* Budgeting and financial management.
* Knowledge of the arts in Ireland.
* Strategic planning and development.
* Initiative and self-starter qualities.
* Sensitivity to arts practice.
