We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to supervise the delivery of utility upgrade works in the Cork City area.
Key Responsibilities
* Site Supervision: Oversee all on-site activities, ensuring work is carried out to the required quality, specifications, and timelines.
* Monitor the contractor's performance and resolve on-site issues promptly.
Compliance and Quality Control
* Ensure all works comply with relevant standards, relevant regulations, and environmental requirements.
* Conduct regular quality checks, inspections, and audits of materials and workmanship.
Health and Safety Oversight
* Monitor the implementation of the contractor's health and safety plan.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and welfare legislation.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as a point of contact between the utility body, contractors, and local authorities.
* Provide regular progress updates and attend site meetings as required.
Documentation and Reporting
* Maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily logs, inspection reports, and site correspondence.
* Provide detailed progress and performance reports as well as taking detailed notes on any claims that arise.
Risk Management
* Identify and manage risks, escalating significant issues to the relevant parties when necessary.
Requirements
* A minimum of 5 years of experience supervising the delivery of infrastructure projects, ideally in water supply or utilities.
* Relevant degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
* Strong knowledge of water main construction techniques and materials.
* Comprehensive understanding of Irish construction regulations, standards, and safety practices.
* Demonstrable experience in managing contractors and overseeing infrastructure works from initiation to completion.
This role is site-based and will require regular travel within the Cork City area. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility and commitment to ensure project goals are met.
