Overview
We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to play a lead role in software design, architecture, requirements analysis, and software development to deliver support and maintenance of existing applications as well as development of new applications.
Responsibilities
* Implementing effective Agile measurement and continuous improvement practices
* Organising, moderating and demonstrating Agile industry best practices.
* Experience with developing and executing plans, meeting deadlines, coordinating timelines and efforts and applying advanced principles, theories and experiences
* Managing and leading a development team in the delivery of software across various projects to strict deadlines
* Leading and coordinating the optimised architecture of new systems in a Service Orientated Architecture and the refactoring of older frameworks
* Acting as a subject matter expert focused on designing application interfaces and software services to maximise reuse based on the business processes and governance rules for sharing
* Java application development, including in the use of Spring framework, in the full software development lifecycle from concept and design to testing.
* Implementing project delivery methodologies, application development lifecycles, and agile development models
* Provide the development team with technical leadership and guidance on application design options
* Manage project source code and documentation
* Ensure that all deliverables are tested to meet the standards as defined prior to deployment to the Quality Assurance team
* Ensure production releases are compliant with the Department’s release management standards
* Conduct Developer Code Reviews to ensure adherence to Java coding standards
* Provide continuity in all major application solution decisions.
* Progress and manage technical change items/requests
* Organise skills/knowledge transfer and mentoring to team members and Department staff
* Create, write and execute unit and integration test plans
* Incident resolution
* Coding in adherence to standards
* Maintaining, tuning and repairing applications to keep them performing according to technical and functional specifications; performing preventive maintenance activities; providing user support
* Integration of technical and application components to meet business requirements
* Completing assigned tasks related to phases of development lifecycle of enterprise applications within given scope and timeframes requirements
Qualifications
* BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
Essential skills
* Technical Skills
o Expert in Enterprise Java development, with experience using industry-standard frameworks, e.g. Quarkus/Spring Boot
o Microservice and API development (RESTful, experience of REST design and implementation)
o Understanding of API security protocols (OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect)
o Knowledge of Kubernetes, API managers and WebLogic
o Experience with OpenShift Container platform, 3scale API and KeyCloak
o Testing frameworks and TDD (like Cucumber or Junit)
o Databases: Oracle 19c RDBMS
o Proficiency with Message Broker Technologies
o Red Hat OpenShift 4 with Docker
o Red Hat PAM
o Red Hat Single Sign-On
o Developing using Modern front-end libraries and frameworks such as Angular 2+, Bootstrap or Material Design

Experience
* 7+ years of experience in application development
* Acting as a senior responsible person and leading teams of specialists on complex software projects
* Experience mentoring an advantage
* Public sector experience preferred
