Senior Occupational Therapist – Intellectual Disability Services
My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Occupational Therapist to join their Intellectual Disability Services team in Longford and Westmeath. The role will be primarily based in Mullingar, providing comprehensive occupational therapy services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting individuals to achieve their fullest potential in all aspects of daily life.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Occupational Therapist – Intellectual Disability Services
* Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify individual needs.
* Develop, implement, and review person-centred intervention plans to promote independence and well-being.
* Work collaboratively with individuals, families, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care.
* Provide guidance, training, and support to junior therapists and therapy assistants as required.
* Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions targeting functional skills development.
* Support individuals with adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
* Promote best practices and evidence-based approaches within the service.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and regulatory standards.
* Participate in service development initiatives, audits, and quality improvement projects.
* Provide consultation and training to staff and stakeholders on occupational therapy approaches.
Requirements of Senior Occupational Therapist – Intellectual Disability Services
* Degree/Master’s qualification in Occupational Therapy.
* CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
* Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, preferably within Intellectual Disability services.
* Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in intellectual disability and occupational therapy interventions.
* Experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Proficiency in assessment and intervention planning for individuals with complex needs.
* Full, clean driving licence and access to a car.
