We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Manager to oversee the successful operation of our Newbridge store.
As the Store Manager, you will be responsible for driving the store's performance in alignment with the company's objectives and maintaining high standards in all areas of operation.
Job Description: O'Brien's Store Manager
The Role
Sales Awareness and Business Development
1. Achieve weekly and period sales targets set by support office.
2. Know your customers and contact them with offers.
3. Ensure your store has a business plan.
4. Communicate with Denis on contacts.
5. Be aware of branch performance against group - Growth versus Group.
6. Maintain knowledge of local conditions regarding competitor activity within the store catchment area including promotions and prices.
7. Actively recruit customers to mailing list.
Stockloss
1. Ensure all till shortages are investigated and reported to the appropriate personnel.
2. Manage all returns correctly and ensure full credit is received.
3. Record all shop tastings correctly.
4. Give discounts only in appropriate situations and ensure they are correctly accounted for in the system.
5. Enter goods inwards dockets weekly.
6. Follow company security procedures regarding the control of cash drops, cash reconciliations, cash lodgements, keys, access to safes, alarm systems, access to non-customer areas, etc.
Overhead Costs
1. Be cost conscious and actively participate in controlling overhead costs.
2. Manage and control all variable costs.
3. Manage wages, staff uniforms, and training.
4. Analyze past performance on sales to develop an accurate ordering system.
5. Ensure continuity of stock availability where possible.
6. Monitor existing stockholding within the store and stockroom.
7. Proactively communicate all stock issues with Support Office.
8. Ensure products listed are available in store when possible.
9. Understand the importance of instore standards on sales.
10. Communicate, educate, and develop a team aware of how to merchandise and maintain standards.
11. Pay clear attention to detail when driving standards.
12. Place products in accordance with planogram.
13. Ensure floor display is adequately stocked with the appropriate POS.
14. Ensure all products are correctly priced.
15. Maintain effective hygiene standards instore (counter, floor, fridges, bottles, units dust free, staff areas clean, etc.).
Wine Development
1. Demonstrate excellent product knowledge in line with training and information received.
2. Encourage and facilitate other staff members to improve their levels of product knowledge.
3. Stay aware of O'Brien's products and new product listings.
4. Be aware of press commentary and use press endorsements as per policy.
5. Attend wine events.
6. Utilize product bulletins and product reference manuals.
7. Maintain a wine training record for the quarter.
Staff Management
1. Motivate and direct staff to maximize their performance to maintain an efficient store operation.
2. Maintain high levels of personal presentation and ensure all staff do the same.
3. Conduct staff reviews.
4. Think about the appropriate way to address individuals to get the most out of them.
5. Share information through formal and informal communications.
6. Gain commitment and respect from others at all times, instilling knowledge and skills in others.
7. Ensure key people are rostered at key times.
8. Communicate management ethos down the line.
9. Ensure compliance with underage policy and communicate this to all staff members.
10. Take final responsibility for the use of the Internet, email, and computer in line with company policy.
Customer Care
1. Handle all customer complaints in an efficient, professional manner and ensure they are passed onto the appropriate person in Support Office.
2. Be polite and courteous at all times with customers and able to deal effectively with complaints.
3. Review mystery shopping report feedback.
4. Ensure the team is fully aware of their commitments to customer service.
The Person:
1. A genuine passion for our products and excellent wine knowledge is essential - WSET Qualifications are preferable.
2. Extremely customer-focused with a passion for delivering a high-end shopping experience.
3. Understand the day-to-day running of a retail store, hard working with strong operational skills.
4. Able to communicate effectively and confidently with customers.
5. Committed to driving sales and contributing to business development opportunities.
6. Has previous managerial/supervisory experience within a similar environment.
7. A great personality, high energy, friendly, and an ability to motivate a team.
8. Enthusiastic and eager to expand wine knowledge through training courses provided by the company.
