The role
As a Rail Strategy Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for promoting a culture of success for work winning with Irish Rail and Transport Infrastructure Ireland by positioning Babcock to win across a programme of identified rail engineering opportunities.The Rail Strategy Lead will initiate and take ownership of stakeholder engagement and client intelligence processes working collaboratively with key customers and suppliers to identify business challenges and position Babcock to provide compelling solutions.
Day-to-day, you’ll:
Develop and maintain relationships with key customers through collaborating to identify business challenges and provide appropriate and effective solutions.
Conduct market intelligence and competitive analysis to understand industry trends and competitor activities.
Develop and support client engagement strategies to position the company for future opportunities whilst building and maintaining strong relationships with railway clients, partners, and subcontractors.
Apply technical knowledge, expertise and understanding of the customer’s requirements to support the production of competitive and compelling proposals against tender requirements, along with reviewing and supporting bids
Continually improve the Company’s corporate identity through market research to identify trends in the marketplace and opportunities for capability development.
Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of Babcock, client and customer sites, as a requirement of the role. This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to client and customer sites on a monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Rail Strategy Lead:
Experienced in developing and managing customer relationships at a senior level to position organisations to win.
Experienced in leading business development resources, managing opportunity pipelines and developing commercial offerings.
Sound engineering technical understanding.
Strong commercial market sector knowledge in Ireland specifically Rail.
Experienced in various rail systems and major infrastructure projects
Qualifications and Skills for the Rail Strategy Lead:
Degree in Engineering. Preferably chartered.
Technical experience in the following rail systems: telecoms, signalling, civils, E&P, ETCS/TMS, OLE/electrification and track.
Knowledge of project management software, customer relationship management software (CRM, proposal software and presentation tools.
Excellent Commercial awareness.
Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.
