Product Development Engineer
The Product Development Engineer will play a pivotal role in introducing new JFC Evolution products into the manufacturing process and production lines within the Evolution Department.
This individual will provide technical and operational support by developing processes using Lean principles to ensure safe, effective, and efficient production. The successful candidate will gain exposure and contribute to all areas of the business by supporting the Quality, Operations, Health & Safety, and R&D departments.
This role is based at JFC's Headquarters in Tuam, Co Galway. This position reports directly to the Evolution Operations Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for new product integration, including taking over projects from R&D and launching them into production.
* Maximizing production quality once launched.
* Utilizing ERP/MRP software to ensure BOMs and work instructions are up-to-date.
* Developing product designs based on specifications using design for manufacture principles.
* Carrying out cost-saving projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
* Evaluating manufacturing processes and improving manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
* Performing root cause analysis and resolving production problems.
* Improving designs and making products easy to manufacture and service using PTC Creo.
* Undertaking special projects assigned by the management team.
* Collaborating with departments to assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and implement them using Lean Principles.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and project close-out documents.
* Ensuring equipment and preventative maintenance procedures are in place and effective.
* Fulfilling all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements for the manufacturing process.
Desired Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree (L8) in Mechanical Engineering.
* 2-3 years' experience required.
* Problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with various teams.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and experience in a busy environment.
* Working knowledge and experience with PTC Creo or an alternative CAD package.
* Excellent technical report writing, oral communication, and presentation skills.
* Able to react and prioritize activities for the project/business need.
