Your new role
* Provide desktop support, email, remote and telephone assistance for all users, ensuring seamless connectivity and resolving technical issues promptly.
* Oversee hardware and software upgrades on all related equipment, staying up-to-date with the latest technology advancements.
* Tackle network issues across various technologies and platforms, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
* Evaluate and implement security standards as required, safeguarding sensitive information and protecting against cyber threats.
* Support laboratory hardware and software-based applications, facilitating efficient research and development processes.
* Setup and configure wireless access accounts, ensuring secure and reliable internet connectivity for users.
* Manage user access rights and permissions for programs, directories, and network shares, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.
* Offer support for data recovery in case of accidental data loss or hardware failure of storage media, minimizing business disruptions.
* Install, maintain, and replace IT peripherals, guaranteeing optimal performance and functionality.
* Publish ongoing documentation of fixes and procedures for all issues, facilitating knowledge sharing and improvement.
* Assist with inventory management using the IT Asset Register, ensuring accurate tracking and optimization of resources.
* Migrate operating systems Institute-wide, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to services.
* Configure VPNs and remote access for user accounts, enabling secure and convenient connections from anywhere.
* Support email accounts on smart/mobile phones for all users, streamlining communication and productivity.
* Facilitate Audio/Visual/IT equipment in conference rooms, enhancing collaboration and presentation capabilities.
* Field and patch networking switch ports, ensuring reliable and high-performance network connections.
* Ensure compliance with the organisation's Quality Management system and Health and Safety standards, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
* Perform additional duties as reasonably required within the general scope and level of the post.
Requirements for Success
* Must be currently living in Ireland.
* Flexible to work onsite in Cork, adapting to changing needs and priorities.
* Holding an EEA passport or a valid Stamp 4/1G visa, ensuring eligibility for the duration of the contract.
