As a buyer, you will be responsible for curating and managing our product assortment, ensuring the best selection for our customers. Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier & Vendor Relations: Build and nurture relationships with suppliers. Evaluate new vendors, negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure optimal results for the store.
- Product Selection and Sourcing: Curate a unique assortment of high-quality, artisan foods and products that align with our store’s values. Conduct taste tests and quality assessments to maintain product standards.
- Inventory & Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability and freshness. Implement effective stock management to minimise waste and optimise product turnover.
- Market Research & Trend Analysis: Stay updated on the latest trends in artisan, organic, and sustainable foods. Provide insights to enhance our product selection and improve customer satisfaction.
- Order Processing & Documentation: Preparing purchase orders, tracking shipments, and verifying deliveries for accuracy.
- Customer Engagement and Feedback: Gather feedback from customers and store staff on product satisfaction, preferences, and areas for improvement. Share insights with management to refine product offerings.
- Budgeting and Cost Management: Work within set budgets to achieve cost efficiency while maximising product quality and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Business, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an artisan or specialty food environment is required.
- At least 1 year of experience as a buyer in an artisan or specialty food setting.
- Administrative support experience is a plus.
- Experience as a Shop Assistant is beneficial.
- Genuine passion for food and the artisan food industry.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with EPOS System (minimum 1 year).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Hours of Work: 39 per week
