Childrenswear Designer
We are Ireland’s largest retailer providing fashion, food and homewares for our loyal customers. We operate over 130 stores across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Spain, as well as a growing online store. We currently have a designer vacancy in our Childrenswear department in our Head Office. The successful candidate will work with our buying and design teams on determining commercial trends and creating artwork for our Childrenswear range. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative designer to join a dynamic team in a fast-paced creative retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Determine commercial trends and create artwork for our Childrenswear range.
2. Create technical packs and liaise with international suppliers to ensure efficient sampling.
3. Forecast and create colour palettes for Childrenswear.
4. Manage the development of products from concept design to launch, liaising with buyers, ensuring deadlines are met.
5. Interpreting trends and translating them to meet the customer profile.
6. Travel on product development trips, trade fairs and inspirational trips.
7. Work closely with the buying teams to create and design a broad range of commercial clothing including jersey pieces, graphic sweats, allover sport prints and embroideries.
8. Design and develop products from initial concept through to finished product using CAD and detailed specs and artwork, ensuring all deadlines are met.
9. Prepare regular reports on both competitors and aspirational brands.
Requirements:
1. Creative flair, originality and eye for excellent design is essential.
2. Excellent computer skills with full knowledge of CAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
3. Knowledge in graphics, fashion or textile design with strong illustration ability and excellent working knowledge of all current design software.
4. Previous experience designing for Childrenswear would be advantageous.
5. Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
6. Ability to work on numerous seasons at once.
7. Commercial awareness and up-to-date knowledge of retail and consumer trends.
8. Excellent attention to detail and thorough execution.
9. Strong interpersonal skills with good written and verbal communication.
10. Strong ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
11. Successful candidates should be confident and able to forecast and give presentations to all levels of management.
