Job Brief
Children's Connections is a new and exciting development in the support and provision of service to families and children with intellectual disability and/or Autism and other identified additional needs in County Mayo. The service will be working in partnership with the HSE Progressing Children's Disability Network Teams and will seek to support the delivery of priorities for families around the need for a flexible approach to respite and community-based supports. The service will also work collaboratively with both the Western Care Children's centre-based respite services and Home-Share service offered to children, which are all an integral part of a suite of respite services offered by the organisation.
The Service Manager will lead and manage through the Principles of practice leadership the development of the Children's Connect service. To lead the team to create collaborative good practice in supporting children to access their community in a safe and practice informed manner to achieve positive outcomes. To liaise and create collaborative systems with other supportive agencies, including Enable Ireland, HSE/CDNT, to deliver the service. To support and positively engage and interact with families to provide the appropriate supports to assist families in meeting their goals and needs.
Extensive Training and Induction will be provided by the Western Care Children's Connect Team.
Qualification Details
A minimum level 7 degree qualification in Social Care, or equivalent. Please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration once this process commences.
Candidate Requirements
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is essential
* An understanding of person and family centered approach is essential
* Strong communication skills, effective time management, and timely record-keeping abilities are essential
* Familiarity with working in collaboration with families is an advantage
* Previous experience in teamwork and inter-agency collaboration is desirable
* Flexibility in relation to working hours and location
* Proficiency in IT skills is preferred
* Resilience in working in the community
* Have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of team work with motivation to deliver high quality facilitation, working alongside children, their families and other disciplines
* Creativity and resourcefulness in problem-solving
* Commitment to fostering teamwork and delivering high-quality facilitation in collaboration with individuals, their families, and other professionals
Other Duties Involved
* Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
* Provide personal care and support to service users where required.
* Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement.
* To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association's practices.
* Use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behaviour in line with Organisational practice.

* Full driver's license is essential
* All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
* All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application
* All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years

Salary Scale
Social Care Leader Pay Scale (Scale Range €46,825 - €55,027 per annum)
