Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Take responsibility for the review, interpretation, communication, and implementation of all applicable safety legislation.
2. Implement and perform an internal audit program and conduct regular spot check assessments according to organizational safety policies to ensure AAG remains a safe workplace.
3. Monitor safety performance and provide updates and recommendations to the EHS Quality Manager.
4. Generate periodic HS performance statistics, identify trends, and take appropriate actions to ensure compliance with safety standards.
5. Coordinate the Risk Assessment Program and appropriate follow-up actions.
6. Support Occupational Health Monitoring programs by assessing trends and proposing recommendations.
7. Identify training needs programs and develop and deliver training to employees, contractors, and customers to ensure competence in safety awareness.
8. Lead incident reporting investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventative actions.
9. Generate management reports both internally and for external agencies as appropriate.
10. Support evaluation of new activities/equipment regarding HS legislation implementation.
11. Ensure continuous development and implementation of the Emergency Response Plan.
12. Maintain training statistical data records as appropriate.
13. Coordinate Safety Committee and First Aid activity programs.
14. Liaise with other AAG Group EHS colleagues on relevant issues/developments.
15. Liaise with internal departments, Health & Safety Authority, and insurance companies.
16. Support the EHS Quality Manager in developing a safety culture through regular communication and safety awareness campaigns.
17. Support EHS specialist team and other members of the Quality Team in their duties.
18. Undertake projects and assignments as allocated by the EHS Quality Manager.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Hold a degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
2. Experience in Safety Management Systems and potential implementation (preferably OHSAS 18001).
3. Ability to interpret safety legislation and compliance standards.
4. Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in a dynamic industrial environment.
5. Willingness to learn about all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment.
6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence in a busy operational environment.
7. Ability to interact across different departments and engage Senior Management to improve health and safety performance.
Typical Working Conditions:
1. Must satisfy and maintain the required medical standard.
2. Work is performed at the AAG Hangar in Shannon.
3. PPE is provided by AAG and its use is mandatory.
4. Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements.
