It plays a central role in managing co-located services on-site and is the only Level 1 Trauma Centre in Ireland, offering 40 different medical and surgical specialties.
CUH serves as a tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional area, providing secondary and tertiary care for a total population of 1.1 million.
Currently, CUH has 800 beds and employs 3,400 staff across multiple professions. It is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in UCC.
The hospital provides the only consultant-led clinical neurophysiology service outside of Dublin, offering comprehensive services including NCS/EMG, EEG, evoked potentials, small fibre testing, intraoperative neuromonitoring, and autonomic testing.
