Job Description
To meet the growing demand for our range of services, we wish to recruit an experienced Project Manager to fulfill a client-side Project Management role on projects. Within MKO, the Project Management Team specialise in:
1. Project Management
2. Procurement Advisory Services
3. Pre-project Advisory Services
4. Strategic Estates Management & Sustainability Consultancy
The Role
As a professional Project Manager with MKO, the successful candidate will work on exciting projects of varying size and scale, with a wide range of clients, both public and private, in sectors such as higher education, life sciences, renewable energy, commercial, leisure and residential, and public realm. Typically they will work on several projects concurrently; offering great variety and opportunities for gaining experience in different sectors.
The successful candidate will be involved in the management of projects at all stages of their lifecycle on behalf of our clients; from identification of an opportunity through defining the project, planning and managing its design, consenting, and execution, and ensuring satisfactory close-out on final completion. They will collaborate with an array of design and project delivery professionals to deliver great projects that enhance peoples’ lives, the environment and leave a legacy of which we are proud. On more complex projects, the appointed Project Manager will work alongside either the Project Management Director or a Senior Project Manager as part of a Project Management team.
Alternatively, in light of recent appointments on 3 significant local authority parks / sport & recreation facilities projects; there is an opportunity for a suitably experienced candidate to specialise, if they wish, in managing the design, consenting and delivery of these types of projects. This role offers an opportunity to shape the recreational and amenity experiences of future generations of Galwegians.
Whether as a general PM or a specialist Parks Projects PM, the role offers excellent opportunities for career development and promotion. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on or lead progressively larger and more complex projects as they gain experience; and can potentially progress to becoming the Project Management leader for one of the above four service lines.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities would include:
* Assisting in the management of all stages of various projects.
* Communicating effectively (verbal & written) with project stakeholders at all levels; client personnel, community representative groups, design team members, contractor / subcontractors, statutory bodies etc.
* Managing and administering processes for procuring Design Teams and contractors.
* Day to day coordination of project activity.
* Project performance and progress tracking relative to agreed project milestones / goals.
* Producing high quality and accurate written reports, and technical documents to include:
o Project Execution Plans
o Project Progress Reports
o Feasibility Assessments
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will have, at a minimum, the following:
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* An ability to work as part of a team and take a leadership role in teams.
* A degree in a construction related discipline: Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Landscape Design, or Construction Management.
* At least 3 years post-graduation experience; ideally in construction-related professional services.
* Experience of working as part of, or managing, a client design team comprising multiple professionals.
