Looking to recruit an Application Support Specialist for an international banking firm based in Dublin city centre. An onsite role working as part of an expanding team.
Purpose of the role
The ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to the overall success of the IT department by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
Responsibilities
* Be a key member of a strong front office Application Support team who will be tasked with supporting, managing, and maintaining the capital markets electronic trading platform for the global sales and trading desks. The role will directly interact with fixed income and equities business users.
* Primary responsibilities supporting business units in the Dublin market but also providing application support to the European trading desk based in other global locations.
* Monitoring and proactive maintenance of the electronic trading platforms.
* Troubleshooting problems with day-to-day technical operations raised by the trading desks.
* Incident management and communication of the status of all incidents to both business and technology management.
* Understand how the bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
* Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
* Occasionally working outside standard hours might be required to make specific changes or perform maintenance that is often not able to be completed during normal business hours.
* As a client-facing role, excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
* Good oral/written skills for operational documentation and communication with support groups in other departments.

* The ideal candidate must possess a good understanding of IT systems and operations practices.
* Provide advice, support, and training to users.
* Escalate incidents to Senior management in times of system outages and delays.
* Work within the local IT team of 6.
* Resolution of user issues in a prompt manner, escalation to senior IT management as appropriate.
* Communicating with 3rd party vendors such as trading exchanges, software suppliers such as ION Trading, Bloomberg, MTS, EUREX, ICE, BGC, TpICAP, CME.
Required Experiences
* Computer science degree or similar.
* Experience with the Linux operating system and basic scripting and SQL knowledge.
* Experience working with trading desks.
* Knowledge of networking technologies, common operating systems, hardware, and protocols.
* Basic knowledge of ION Trading's MMI & Anvil components.
* Experience dealing with market exchanges and electronic brokerage platforms, for example, MTS, Eurex, and Bloomberg.
* Passion for IT and Technology to develop a career in capital markets IT.
* Proactive problem-solving skills.
* People-oriented individual with a team focus.
* Experience writing technical guides and documentation.
* Awareness of ITIL and IT service management principles.
