The Library Access Service is a specialist national service providing accessible digital content through its Bookshare Ireland platform. With over 1.4 million titles in a variety of accessible formats, Bookshare Ireland is the largest accessible digital Library in Ireland.
The Role
We are actively seeking an Accessible Digital Publishing Manager. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary Library Access Services Team providing technical and quality assurance support for our digital systems, including the Bookshare Ireland platform.
The Accessible Digital Publishing Manager will assist the Head of Library Access Services to develop and grow the digital platforms: Bookshare Ireland and Overdrive. They will also assist in the EU - GCA accreditation programme under the EU/GCA (The European Accessibility Act).
Based in the Vision Ireland Library Access Service, Finglas Business Centre, Jamestown Road, Dublin 11, you will report directly to the Head of Library Access Services and work closely with the multi-disciplinary team developing and growing our accessible digital offering. This role is suited to a quality assurance executive with digital publication experience.
* Assist in the backend maintenance of the digital platforms: Bookshare Ireland and Vision Ireland Overdrive.
* Quality Assurance of accessible digital publications which include: Braille Ready files (BRF), Audio Text to Speech, App Testing.
* Assist the Head of Library Access Service in the production of data reports and analysis.
* Assist with the GCA Accreditation (Global Certified Accreditation) process under the EU-GCA (European Accessibility Act).
* Contact for The Lego Braille Bricks project in Ireland and the ABC Consortium.
* Identify and manage ways of growing the accessible digital offering.
* Support the delivery of the Vision Ireland Services and Library Access Services Strategy.
* Responsible for office duties assigned by the Head of Library Access Services.
Person Specification
* Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.
* Experience in working with digital content.
* UEB Braille qualification desirable (an interest in pursuing UEB Braille production qualification would also be considered).
* Experience in Quality Assurance of accessible digital publications.
* A passion for process improvement and problem-solving.
* Experience in Digital Publishing Management.
