Job Summary

Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintains a caring and supportive atmosphere for patients, visitors, medical staff, and coworkers.
* Delivers radiation treatment according to written prescription and treatment plan, ensuring patient safety through consistent adherence to departmental procedures.
* Assures the quality of treatment delivery through accurate documentation of treatment records.
* Ensures the accuracy and consistency of treatment portal placement by reviewing electronic portal images and adjusting treatment fields as needed.
* Explains treatment procedures to patients and/or family members, referring medical questions to appropriate personnel.
* Under the direction of a radiation oncologist, takes localization radiographs, assists with contrast agent administration, performs measurements, collects and documents data, and accurately inputs treatment-related data into the verify-and-record system.
* Assists in the orientation and supervision of students during clinical rotations and evaluates student performance under the guidance of the clinical specialist/chief therapist.
* Participates in various treatment-related procedures and utilizes effective communication techniques to address patient concerns.
* Performs and documents daily and weekly QA activity for assigned equipment, notifies clinical specialists immediately of findings outside normal operations, and participates in programs to improve the quality of care within the department.
* Attends multidisciplinary team meetings for coordination of patient care and completes the daily treatment schedule.
* Maintains a safe and orderly treatment room and provides on-call coverage for emergency situations.
Qualifications and Experience
* Completion of a formal radiation therapy technology program in an Irish/EU/AMA-approved institution.
* CORU registration is required.
* Senior post – at least 3 years of relevant and appropriate post-graduate radiotherapy experience.
Working Hours and Schedule
This full-time permanent role requires a flexible schedule, including 12-hour shifts, day shifts, weekends, and night shifts.
Location
The successful candidate will be based in Waterford and must be able to commute or relocate before starting work.
