Ohshima Ireland LTD is currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our growing team based in our facility in Shannon, Co. Clare. This organisation has worldwide expertise but also a local presence within our specialized field. This will be a key role in the company and requires someone coming from a fast-paced multi-national company background.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development & implementation of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with current and future relevant legislation and industry best practice.
2. Provide advice, information and guidance on health and safety matters to internal stakeholders, and support consultation including the Safety Committees and Safety Representatives.
3. Act as an ambassador and promote the development of a positive H&S culture of excellence and inclusion within the organisation.
4. Co-ordinate and support/deliver H&S training (company requirements, procedures, new legal requirements, inductions etc.).
5. Compile accident and investigation reports and data, supporting accident prevention and safety initiatives across Ohshima.
6. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of work areas, operations and systems; monitor and support corrective and preventative actions.
7. Support and co-ordinate Emergency Plans, evacuation procedures and drills.
8. Provision of health and safety reports and metrics to Senior Management and administer Health and Safety software systems around document control, auditing, incident reporting etc.
Requirements and Skills:
1. Third level qualification in Health & Safety or similar is required or recognised safety qualification.
2. At least 2-3 years on-site Safety Officer experience (experience in the manufacturing sector would be an advantage but not mandatory).
3. Experience in risk assessment and strong understanding of Irish and EU health and safety legal requirements.
4. Competent auditor and training experience.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience in delivering training.
6. A self-starter with a proven ability to work on own initiative, with problem solving skills and be innovative.
