This new post has been devised jointly by the National Library of Ireland (NLI) and the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) and is co-funded by the Heritage Division of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The NLI has important holdings of print and manuscript music. In its Strategic Plan 2022-2026, one of the Library's key objectives is to 'Reveal all the collections of the National Library by listing or cataloguing all the collections we hold'. As curator of Music Collections, this role will be critical to ensure that the Library meets this goal in relation to the music collections in its care.
Working as part of NLI's Special Collections Team and reporting to the Keeper of Special Collections, the Curator of Music Collections will have delegated responsibility for researching, organising, cataloguing and providing guidance on the NLI's music holdings, with particular focus on 18th and 19th century Irish music in the classical tradition.
This role will develop and implement a programme of work to enable discovery of these collections and engage new audiences, allowing for the development of a specific music strand in our programming and development.
Salary: Entry will be at the minimum of the Assistant Keeper Grade I scale (PPC): €72,511 per annum.
