My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join their team. This a unique and exciting opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join a successful and long-established business with a supportive management team. The hotel, located in Connemara, County Galway is a four star historic hotel and resort on a large estate. This is an opportunity to learn all aspects of managing a hotel and to work with a positive close-knit and ambitious team.
The Deputy Manager will report to the General Manager and will primarily be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the business. The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy 4-star property. They are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager with strong management and people management skills.
You’ll be responsible for all aspects of the hotel operations, ensuring that all areas meet the hotel’s standards of quality and service. Working with the General Manager and Management team to optimise profits and increase sales, promote new and diverse business. Provide support to the General Manager for all hotel operations and work directly with and support all Heads of Departments in all aspects of the running of the hotel.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Hands-on experience in hotel operations, specifically, Food & Beverage; Conference & Banqueting and Front of House.
* Responsible for all aspects of smooth operations in all departments.
* Support the department managers.
* Ensure the premises are in operative condition and able to receive and serve guests with service excellence.
* Conduct regular operations team meetings with the Heads of Departments to discuss routine operational matters, sales targets, guest reviews, and action taken for service recovery and any staff issues.
* Ensure Standard Operating Procedure implementation in all departments and check the same during routine operational checks.
* Ensure a professional, friendly, and courteous service to all guests. Ensure that guests are warmly welcomed and are dealt with in a professional manner.
* Maintain a lobby presence during peak check-in/out times, lunchtime, and around the banqueting area during peak tea/coffee times.
* Interface with customers regularly to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels, and overall satisfaction, effectively responding to guest problems and complaints.
* Ensure cleanliness is upheld in areas of responsibility.
* Liaise with and assist in departments as required.
* Randomly inspect the stores (F&B, Kitchens) to check stock (quality, par stock levels, expiry, etc).
* Monitor the coordination between departments for smooth and efficient operations.
* Identify staff learning needs and assist with development.
* Excellent attention to detail and high level of commercial and financial knowledge.
* Passionate about standards and provision of excellence in hospitality.
* Ability to lead and motivate a strong team of Departmental Managers and drive inclusiveness throughout the organisation.
* Help achieve full room occupancy and ensure that no rooms are blocked off.
* Take appropriate action and follow up on any guest feedback.
* Deliver daily team briefings where required.
* Look after requisitions outside of store hours ensuring that all documentation is completed.
* Spot check guest bedrooms as required.
* Conduct any Fire, Life, Safety projects as requested.
* Get involved in and carry out training in the hotel.
* Ability to communicate at all levels. A fluent level of English is essential.
* Understanding of hotel-related laws and regulations including Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations.

* Previous experience in a similar role in a 4-star property.
* Excellent customer-focused manner at all times.
* Proactive positive attitude and strong strategic thinking skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Good eye for detail and a desire to take responsibility for issues and concerns generated by guests.
* Flexibility with working hours.
* Strong PC Skills/MS Office and Reservations systems.
This role is a permanent position, based on site in North Connemara, Co. Galway.
