Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems in residential and commercial structures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Interpreting blueprints and building specifications to map layouts for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials
* Installing pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
* Installing supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
* Assembling fittings and valves for installation
* Modifying the length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building
* Using saws and pipe cutters as necessary
* Installing heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters
* Collaborating with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing
* Testing plumbing systems for leaks and other problems
* Analysing problems and identifying appropriate tools and materials for repair
* Choosing plumbing materials based on location, intended use, and compliance with health and safety standards
* Following health and safety standards and complying with building codes
* Writing reports documenting problems and summarising actions taken
* Performing inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
* Preparing bids and schedules and overseeing other workers, such as apprentices and helpers
