Business Lines New Business Underwriter-Hybrid

The Business Lines New Business Team are responsible for meeting the insurance needs of our Business Lines customers through our broker channel. This role requires close collaboration with our broker partners and internal functions to ensure all areas of the business are managed according to framework, policies, authority levels and guidelines while delivering on our financial plan.
Your Role
As a Business Lines New Business Underwriter, your main responsibilities include:
1. Underwriting and analysing new business submissions in adherence to the Zurich Way of underwriting, risk appetite, and delegated authority levels.
2. Negotiating terms & conditions with broker partners in line with our agreed strategy and target risk appetite while nurturing relationships.
3. Managing and prioritising new business pipeline and work queues, ensuring agreed SLA's are met.
4. Engaging with Sales and Distribution, Risk Engineering (when applicable), and broker partners to generate and secure new business opportunities.
5. Building relationships to support customer/business acquisition and retention.
6. Implementing technical standards, controls, practices, and procedures to maintain underwriting discipline.
7. Contributing to the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer, and distributor insights.
8. Adhering to Central Bank compliance standards and demonstrating high-quality assurance in underwriting processes.
9. Maintaining underwriting records in accordance with regulatory/statutory and internal requirements.
10. Identifying training opportunities and assisting with training as directed.
Your Skills and Experience
Technical Skills & Knowledge & Education:
* 3 years plus industry knowledge.
* Holds or working towards relevant professional qualifications i.e. CIP, MDI, ACII.
* Excellent technical insurance knowledge, including specific knowledge in Commercial Insurance.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
* Knowledge of Zurich products/policy wordings.
* Able to work within a team environment, focused on achieving individual and team goals.
* Strong communication skills, negotiation skills, planning and organisational skills.
* Pro-active with problem-solving, decision-making, and judgment skills.
* Able to adapt quickly within a busy environment.
