Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Software QA Engineer to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the quality, usability, and functionality of our web applications through rigorous manual testing. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of User Experience (UX) principles and a proven ability to validate that applications meet user needs and expectations.
You will be working in a distributed multidisciplinary team with members in Ireland (frontend development, DevOps, UX design and QA), The Netherlands (development, UX design) and the United States (product master, development, QA). This position is based in Ireland (Drogheda) and you will report to your manager located in the Netherlands. You must have the relevant visa to live and work in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Execute comprehensive manual testing of web applications, including functional, regression, exploratory, and usability testing.
Validate the application’s adherence to UX best practices, ensuring an intuitive and seamless user experience.
Create, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on product requirements and user stories.
Collaborate with developers, designers, and product managers to understand project requirements and identify potential usability issues.
Document and communicate defects clearly, including steps to reproduce, screenshots, and suggestions for resolution.
Participate in requirement reviews and provide feedback from a QA and UX perspective to enhance the product.
Assist in prioritizing and triaging reported issues, ensuring critical bugs are addressed in a timely manner.
Provide feedback and insights to continuously improve QA processes and testing strategies.
Qualifications
Required:
Proven experience in manual testing of web applications, with a focus on usability (≥ 4 years).
Strong understanding of User Experience principles, usability testing methods, and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
Familiarity with browser developer tools for troubleshooting and debugging.
Ability to write and execute test plans, test cases, and report clear and actionable defects.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with a passion for delivering high-quality products.
Strong communication skills in the English language to work effectively with cross-functional distributed teams.
Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in such environments.
Preferred Skills:
Experience using test management tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar.
Knowledge of basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to assist with identifying and describing UI-related issues.
Exposure to accessibility testing tools or methodologies.
Familiarity with UX design tools like Figma.
