20FIFTY Partners is a mission-led organisation that has been driving awareness and action on the climate and sustainability agenda for the past twenty years through research and education. We have worked closely with national enterprise agencies and 1000’s of businesses in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives within Ireland, the UK and across Europe.
The 20FIFTY Partners Research Centre has a successful track record in delivering national and internationally funded research projects in Climate Action, Industrial Water Stewardship, and Circularity, delivering industry led applied research with a focus on practical evidence-based impact in association with our Communities of Practice. We work with both national and international stakeholders, industry groups and enterprise agencies, running flagship programmes. These include the internationally recognised Water Stewardship Ireland, Skillnet Climate Ready Academy and Origin Green Academy while funding partners include EPA and Horizon Europe.
Purpose of Job
We are recruiting for Research Assistants in Enterprise Sustainability and Climate Action. Working as part of the internationally recognised 20FIFTY Partners Research Centre, the Research Assistants will support on-going and planned research activity in Enterprise Sustainability and Climate Action both nationally and internationally, primarily in regard to the organisation’s ambitions in supporting enterprise to transition to sustainable futures by conducting research in domains such as Sustainability, Climate Action, Water Stewardship, Decarbonisation and Circularity.
The successful candidate will be provided with extensive skills development opportunities. Further, eligible candidates will have the opportunity to apply for company sponsorship (part or full) to undertake a Master’s Degree by Research, subject to availability.
Main Responsibilities
1. To liaise with the Principal Investigator / Senior Researcher and colleagues on matters relating to the research project
2. To support the research activities of senior researchers
3. To undertake duties assigned by the Principal Investigator / Senior Researcher or his/her nominee in support of the research area
4. To arrange relevant meetings associated with the research project or related activities
5. To liaise with related departments and project leaders within the research area to help co-ordinate their research activities
6. To facilitate dissemination of information required
7. To develop internal contacts and to develop a knowledge and understanding of the research project and research related work
8. To co-ordinate own day-to-day work to support the research project
Qualifications
Candidate Requirements
Minimum of a 2.1 level 8 degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental / sustainability science, environmental / energy engineering, data science, supply chain management)
Essential Criteria
1. Knowledge and experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
2. The ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced research environment
3. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
4. Strong IT and organisational skills
5. You will be someone with strong research and analytical skills, comfortable with data, and with a solid background and knowledge in key specialisms
6. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
7. Proven skillset in time & project management and reporting
8. Ability to analyse performance, think critically and improve upon previous outcomes
9. Innovative and creative thinker with the ability to initiate and manage own projects with strong execution
10. Strong project management capability
11. Resourceful approach to problem solving and ability to propose creative solutions
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience working in multi-partner projects and working in inter-disciplinary teams
2. Experience in leading projects
3. Postgraduate qualification in Sustainability

1. Work full time in our Limerick office
2. Current legal permission to live and work in Ireland.
