Business Intelligence Engineer, Books Purchase and Payment Experience

The Amazon Books Purchase and Payments Experience team owns multiple payment methods and workflows to simplify and champion the purchase experience for our customers.
As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the architecture, design, and development of the data, metrics, and reporting platform for Books. You will architect and implement new and automated Business Intelligence solutions, including big data and new analytical capabilities that support our Development Engineers, Analysts, and Retail business stakeholders with timely, actionable data, metrics, and reports while satisfying scalability, reliability, accuracy, performance, and budget goals, driving automation and operational efficiencies. You will partner with business leaders to drive strategy and prioritize projects and feature sets. You will also write and review business cases and drive the development process from design to release.

Key job responsibilities:
1. Knowledgeable in a variety of strategies for querying, processing, persisting, analyzing, and presenting data. You are proficient in SQL.
2. Work effectively with customers (e.g., business teams, Data Scientists, etc.) and other internal partners to ensure deliverables meet the needs of the business and team goals.
3. Troubleshoot, research root causes, propose solutions which are scalable and maintainable.
A day in the life:
1. Working in a fun and fast-paced environment with a team of very talented professionals.
2. Putting together Business Metrics and evaluating anomalies for Books programs.
3. Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis for challenging issues.
4. Collaborating with other job families like QA and Development team members and Product Managers.
Minimum qualifications:
1. 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc. experience.
2. Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
3. Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g., t-test, Chi-squared).
4. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, or R).
Preferred qualifications:
1. Master's degree or advanced technical degree.
2. Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design.
3. Experience with statistical analysis and correlation analysis.
