The successful candidate will also liaise and work with medical, fitness and coaching staff on all physio/rehab related issues within the Senior Squad.
This position is being offered on a 2-year fixed term contract and will be based in Leinster Rugby, Newstead Building A, UCD, Belfield, Dublin 4.

POSITION TITLE: Senior Men's Rehabilitation Physiotherapist
ROLE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Physiotherapist will deliver best practice sports physiotherapy services to the Senior Squad, in partnership with the Lead Physiotherapist and Doctor(s). The purpose of the role is to decrease time lost through injury by early and accurate diagnosis and appropriate injury management and rehabilitation.
The role will also involve horizon scanning and research analysis of the relevant rugby, sports medicine and rehabilitation literature and to disseminate this through the medical and performance team.

KEY QUALITIES:
Essential:
Chartered physiotherapist degree or equivalent.
Masters qualification in sports medicine/rehabilitation or equivalent.
Coru registered.
SAFE Rugby or equivalent sports specific emergency pitch-side training.
A minimum of five years post graduate experience as a team physiotherapist to a professional sports team.
The ability to work well within a team environment.
Excellent communication skills & relationship building skills.
Highly organised & efficient.
Strong program design capabilities.
Demonstrate experience in the use of information technology.
Elite level of knowledge of injury pathology and advanced rehabilitation techniques.
Ability to plan (long & short term).

Ability to work irregular and unsocial hours as required involving work outside normal office hours, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
An understanding of and commitment to fair play and international anti-doping policies as enforced by national governing bodies and other relevant organisations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* To provide all aspects of physiotherapy care to Leinster Squad.
* Early accurate diagnosis of injuries.
* To work with the Lead Physiotherapist in the treatment, rehabilitation and monitoring of Leinster Squad injuries.
* Report to the Lead Physiotherapist and Head Doctor on all matters relating to players’ injuries and progress.
* Match day cover.
* Complete a post-match/Training triage (with one of the Provincial Team Doctors where possible).
* Ensure that the injury tracking system (Kitman) is kept up to date.
* Liaise with the Lead Physiotherapist regarding the assessment, progress and ongoing treatment of National Squad players.
* Communicate with the Lead Physiotherapist and Head Doctor the clinical findings when a player is injured.
* Plan, schedule, program and deliver contemporaneous and world class standard rehabilitation in line with the current scientific literature.
* Combine with the Lead Physiotherapist and Lead Athletic Performance Coach in the decision-making process, the progression and the objective markings of the rehab program.
* Take part in player education in consultation with Lead Physiotherapist, Head Doctor and Athletic Performance staff on injury prevention, treatment and management.
* Complete musculoskeletal screening for all contracted players at the start of the season and especially through the season as a means of maintaining player robustness and availability.
* Accompany Leinster contracted players, where possible, on visits to consultants.
* Attend Leinster squad training and be available to give treatment at times suitable to you and the player.
* Ensure that there is a cross-cover arrangement in place for all absences, utilising the existing Leinster/IRFU physiotherapy personnel.
* Communicate with coaches regarding the progress of injured players on a regular basis.
* Be trained and updated in acute pitch side care, including spinal injury and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, in your capacity as a Physiotherapist.
* Complete medical insurance forms for players as required.
* Keep up to date on recent research in sports physiotherapy and rugby related physiotherapy issues.
* Monitor, maintain and update your knowledge and practice of sports medicine and rehabilitation, to include participation in IRFU physiotherapy in-service meetings, Leinster in-services and outside lectures.
* Provide education, mentoring and support to the more junior physiotherapists and interns.
* Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

* Maintain satisfactory continued education in the practice of sports physiotherapy.
* Ensure effective communication to the Lead Physiotherapist, management and coaching staff.
* Maintain up to date data on injuries and treatments.

* Show initiative in providing player education sessions.
* Provide education to develop other staff and interns.
* Attend regular courses and conferences to stay current with best practice.

* Attend IRFU Medical and Physiotherapy meetings.
* Portray a professional image on behalf of Leinster Rugby.
* Prepare occasional presentations (case reports, journal or conference reviews).
* Achieve set KPI’s as outlined by the Lead Physiotherapist.
* Maintaining effective relationships with various staff within provincial branch and the IRFU.
