This is a daily-rate contractposition located with our client in Dublin.

Job Description:
Key Deliverables.
Designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance and seeking to optimise in-application PL/SQL statements as necessary and establishing best practices.
Providing expertise in the full development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing.
Developing new database-centric functionality on existing software products.
Creating technical and architectural documentation and create technical instructions throughout programme development.
Troubleshooting changes/errors/modifications.
Monitoring the performance, integrity and security of a Re-architecture and refactoring of legacy systems.
Ensuring that data remains consistent across the database, is clearly defined, users access data concurrently, in a form that suits their needs and that there is provision for data security and recovery control (all data is retrievable in an emergency).
Designing schemas, tables, and servers and set permissions for users to access them.
Creating shell scripts and perform timely backups of all key database systems.
Transferring knowledge to relevant staff.
Providing weekly progress reports on work assigned.
Experience/Competencies/Skillsets.
7 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in a large scale production environment Certificate in Microsoft SQL Server or Azure Database Administration Primary degree in a relevant Technology / IT discipline (NFQ Level 7 or equivalent) Working with technologies such as MS SQL, Azure SQL, DB2 etc (or equivalent) Performing database maintenance and support activities such as, Database Consistency Checks, Monitoring errors and troubleshooting, Re-indexing of Tables and Tuning.
Designing and configuring SQL Database Server Installations with an emphasis on high availability clustered environments.
Designing, developing and administering databases, preferably SQL Server 2016 or later.
Managing the day-to-day tasks associated with efficient database utilisation, including database compacting, creating, dropping, backup, restore and general management of individual SQL databases.
Collaborating with:
ICT teams - Dealing with the complexities faced when configuring and supporting SQL Server environments.
Data Architects - Ensuring that data remains consistent across the database, is clearly defined, users access data concurrently and in a form that suits their needs Candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland or currently hold a Stamp 1G/4 Visa to apply.
