Medical Scientist or Molecular Scientist - Molecular Microbiology
Purpose of the Role: The Molecular Microbiology at CHI Crumlin performs routine analysis of specimens by real-time PCR and serology, and is the National Reference Laboratory for Pertussis.
The post holder will support the delivery of a quality molecular microbiology service in compliance with best practice and the requirements of international standard ISO 15189.
The post holder will be performing real-time PCR diagnostics and serological analysis of routine specimens.
Essential Criteria: Qualifications for Medical Scientist: Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street of the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994 Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/ Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to 1997) A recognised qualification at least equivalent to the above and
Be a member, or be eligible for membership, of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM) Be registered with CORU from 31st March 2019 if newly qualified or by 31st March 2021 if currently employed as a Medical Laboratory Scientist and
Applicants who qualified outside Ireland must provide evidence from CORU Medical Scientist Registration Board that their qualifications have been approved for Medical Scientist and meet criteria for recognition including CORU Application Reference number.
Qualifications for Molecular Scientist: An honours Science Degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or Biomedical Science.
