Post Title:Grade VII – Management AccountantPost Status:PermanentDepartmentFinance DepartmentLocation:Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9Reports to:Financial Planning and Analysis Manager.Salary:Appointment will be made on Grade VII salary scale (€58,254 to €75,728 LSI) at a point in line with Government pay policy. Hours of work:Full Time 35 hours per weekClosing Date: 12 noon on 14/3/2025 Please note the hospital reserves the right to close the competition early should a substantial number of applications be received. Position Summary: The post holder will be a senior member of the Finance Department team and will be assigned the responsibility and accountability for the accounting accuracy of month end data entry and reports. They will also be required to complete full reconciliation of a selection of the following balance sheet accounting profiles e.g. bank reconciliation. In addition to the monthly actual reporting and analysis in a timely manner the post holder will also be the finance liaison for a number of directorates and departments to review their spend etc.. The post holder will be involved in capital projects and other ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities
· Responsible and accountable for the accounting accuracy and full and complete reconciliation of a selection of balance sheet accounting profiles eg bank reconciliation · The post holder will be required to keep abreast of relevant regulations/legislation/taxation and accounting standards. · To support and contribute to the development of enhanced financial systems. · To assist the Financial Accountant, Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, Deputy Director of Finance & Director of Finance in the discharge of his/her duties and to undertake special assignments and/or other duties as may be agreed. · The Post Holder will demonstrate excellent analytical and conceptual thinking capability to organise and interpret financial information and challenge business decisions against strategic plan objectives. · The ability to engage and interact with different directorates and departments across the hospital and also staff at multiple levels. · Developing service costing, business analytics, benchmarking and resource allocation models. · Provide leadership and advice on all matters relating Expenditure, Income & Budget for Clinical Directorates & Business Managers. · Provide leadership and advice on all matters relating to ABF for Clinical and non-clinical staff. · Assist in the costing process and provide support and back-up in using the costing system. · Evaluation of service business proposals, ECC Applications. · Business partnering with various operations teams/directorates to drive business performance and decisions · Ability to identify and initiate process improvements · Prepare accurate month-end journals with relevant supporting documentation · Prepare monthly reports for internal and external submission. · Possess a detailed understanding of the financial accounts. · Assist the directorates with the preparation of business cases · Review and challenge the requirement for spend · Build established relationships with key stakeholders and be the finance point of contact for the directorates. · Manage the annual budget at a directorate level · Provide analysis & assist in preparation in relation to the Annual Budgeting Process with a strong focus on the Pay budget · Focus on identifying and establishing Value for Money initiatives · Engage with and analyse Cost Containment Strategies for Hospitals expenditure * The above Role Profile is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved and consequently the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office.
