Electrical Support Technician- Desk-Based Role Hybrid Are you an experienced Electrician or Electrical Engineer looking to step off the tools and transition into a desk-based role?

Our client, based in Kerry, is seeking a skilled professional with a background in plant maintenance or experience interfacing with the grid to oversee and organise MV/HV equipment repairs and maintenance.
This role involves coordination, fault diagnosis, documentation, and stakeholder liaison rather than hands-on fieldwork.
This vacancy has come about due to someone moving internally in to a training position.
There will be full training and close mentorship to get you up to speed.
This is a hybrid role, allowing you to work 3,4 days a week from home once trained.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure faults and repairs to MV/HV equipment (Switchgear, Transformers, etc.)
are organised and completed efficiently, including sourcing materials and labour.
Provide support in diagnosing and repairing LV equipment associated with MV/HV systems (e.g., remote boxes, protection relays).
Utilise and update relevant databases for organising maintenance and repairs.
Manage HV switchgear and associated LV equipment in company-owned substations.
Liaise with technicians, DNOs, and relevant stakeholders across the UK and Ireland.
After training, act as Switching Control Engineer for UK and Ireland sites, including first energisations.
Operate software systems necessary for managing responsibilities.
Ensure compliance with legal, procedural, and best practice standards for MV/HV equipment inspections and maintenance.
Assist in producing documentation for safe work execution.
Adhere to electrical safety rules and regulations.
Implement process and protocol improvements as necessary.
Maintain accurate record-keeping, including single-line diagram (SLD) corrections.
Ensure contractor availability and adequacy.
Foster strong communication and collaboration with internal teams.
Proactively pursue technical upskilling and training opportunities.
Report and address health & safety concerns promptly.
Travel to sites across Ireland and occasionally to Europe when required 10%.
Qualifications & Profile:
Minimum trade qualification or third-level degree in a relevant electrical discipline.
1-2 years' electrical experience, plant maintenance.
HV experience is essential.
Knowledge of SCADA systems is beneficial.
Full clean driving licence required.
Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage workload without supervision.
Eager to remain upskilled on technical advancements.
Initiative and flexibility in handling tasks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
Willingness to travel nationwide as required 10%.
