IT Operations Support Engineer (Staff)
European Tech Recruit are working closely with a leading semiconductor company, based in the County Cork area, who are looking for a Staff level IT Operations Support Engineer to join their team.
This position will assist in maintaining operational infrastructure and address complex issues across a range of technical areas, ensuring the continuous availability and optimal performance of enterprise systems. A basic to intermediate knowledge of hardware engineering design workflows, licensing systems, display technologies (like ETX), and grid computing is necessary.
Responsibilities as IT Operations Support Engineer:
* Design and implement sophisticated monitoring solutions to oversee system health, identify anomalies, and address potential issues before they affect operations.
* Create and deploy automation processes to streamline incident management, system recovery, and routine maintenance, minimizing the need for manual intervention.
* Develop and optimize escalation procedures and workflows, ensuring swift resolution and reducing operational disruptions.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to continually improve and scale proactive operational strategies.
* Linux Systems Administration: Manage and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, ensuring peak performance, security, and availability throughout the infrastructure. Implement automation and scripting to boost operational efficiency.
* Virtualization Technologies: Oversee and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM), managing resource allocation, scaling, and overall system stability. Monitor virtual environments and quickly resolve issues to limit downtime.
* Splunk Query Development: Write and execute advanced Splunk queries to monitor system performance, generate reports, and troubleshoot operational issues. Use insights from Splunk to drive proactive system improvements.
* Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve challenges related to ETX display technologies, grid computing environments, GPU computing setups, and licensing back-end systems.
* Provide support for infrastructure integration with hardware design workflows.
Requirements:
* Over 5 years of experience in operations support, with advanced expertise in Linux, virtualization technologies, and enterprise storage management.
* Proven experience in developing and implementing monitoring solutions (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus, Nagios) and automation frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
* Skilled in using Splunk for querying and monitoring complex systems.
* Basic to intermediate knowledge of hardware engineering design workflows, ETX, grid computing, and GPU computing.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience working in a globally distributed, matrixed organization.
* Excellent communication skills, able to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
