Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, ARN- DCEOAWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.

We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. This role involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation. If you enjoy applying your electrical and mechanical skills to solve problems, we'd like to meet you. Your work will help to maintain one of the world's largest information system infrastructures.
Key Job Responsibilities
SAFETY:
Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. Ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE:
Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA's).Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).Supervise contractor or Engineering Operations Technicians to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment.
Drive continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, while delivering performance against agreed metrics.
Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assist in recruiting efforts.
Lead the root cause analysis for operational issues, and conduct meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to finalize mitigation strategies.
Physical RequirementsManual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).Ability to work shifts (morning, late and night).On-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls.
Work at heights and from ladders; in a noisy environment with ear protection.
Perform physical tasks during the shift.
A Day in the LifeWorking semi-autonomously in operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center.
Execution of project scopes of basic complexity.
Providing timely escalation for all facilities-related issues within the data center.
First-line troubleshooting and reporting of facility and high-criticality events within a pre-determined service level agreement (SLA).Providing assistance to junior and peer EOTs.
Oversight of third-party vendors to ensure that all work performed is in accordance with established safety protocols, best practices, and local legislation.
Utilization of administrative tools for change management, ticketing, and asset management.
Flexibility for changes to work schedule depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS+4 years of operational knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical equipment.
Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in an Electrical/ Mechanical field or equivalent recognized training.
Valid Driver's Licence.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSData Center engineering experience or relevant job-related experience.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
Familiar with Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) control systems and data collection/trending.
