Head of Studio Content - Virgin Media Television

Virgin Media Television is looking for an outstanding industry leader to join their team as the Head of Studio Content. Reporting to the Director of Programming, this new role will oversee output across all studio and daytime content from the Programming Department and play a pivotal part in shaping the overall content strategy for Virgin Media Television.
As a leading public service broadcaster in Ireland we are looking for someone to deliver on our remit to represent, inform and entertain viewers while ensuring we continue to innovate and remain relevant to our audiences.
Specific Duties & Tasks:
1. Oversee in-house output including studio and productions (excluding News & Sports) with responsibility for overall editorial and strategy.
2. Develop the strategy for our daytime output to ensure that it continues to be an industry leading content powerhouse that connects and informs viewers 7 days a week.
3. Deliver bold and exciting content opportunities from our studios that enhance our overall output and support our public service remit.
4. Drive the continuous evolution of VMTV’s content and growth, including growing an in-house production model through studio and EFP.
5. Collaborate continuously with the Head of Commissioning and Acquisitions to develop new opportunities.
6. Collaborate with the Head of Sales to oversee our existing commercial studio content and deliver new opportunities to ensure growth in this area.
7. Develop and lead campaign and event content that drives viewership and creates impact.
8. Grow other output and platform opportunities for the department in areas including podcasts, digital and social.
9. Define and champion the departments brand and voice and ensure it aligns with the overall business goals and company values.
10. Ensure that our output continues to be an uncompromising champion for diversity, representation, and inclusion.
11. Develop and nurture existing presenters and contributors and continue to deliver new and exciting on-air faces for our viewers to engage with.
12. Present regular updates and briefings to VMTV leadership team.
13. Full responsibility for the department budget, utilising it to ensure the department and content can remain agile and reactive to a rapidly changing environment.
14. Foster an environment that supports all teams, with a focus on delivering pathways for new and emerging talent to grow and thrive within the organisation.
15. Work closely with the Head of Studio Operations to deliver an aligned output strategy that maximises facilities and talent.
16. Manage key talent and Executive Producers.

Skills & Expertise:
1. Exceptional editorial and a clear understanding of Virgin Media Television’s audience, output and values, and a genuine enthusiasm for creating engaging, diverse and relevant programming.
2. Experience in the independent sector and extensive knowledge of commissioning production models.
3. Experience building and leading teams, collaborating with wider internal and external stakeholders.
4. Ability to identify and develop revenue streams from content.
5. Will have worked on a broad range of productions across multiple genres.
6. Demonstrated ability to control costs and optimise spending across multiple projects.
7. Skilled in aligning content production with commercial goals, ensuring projects are profitable and sustainable.
8. Previous experience working in a studio environment.
9. Experience addressing production and broadcast issues quickly and effectively.
