Job Summary:
The Activities Assistant is a pivotal role in creating a caring environment in which residents' quality of life is promoted. Social care is at the heart of our care philosophy; therefore, the successful candidate will be required to provide fulfilling social, cultural, and recreational activities to meet the needs of the residents.

* Understand the need to promote privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights, and fulfillment for all residents, treating everyone with respect.
* Support and provide guidance for the residents' committee, ensuring all residents are represented and appropriate information is available.
* Complete assessments on all residents' social care needs and maintain updates.
* Complete 'This is Me' booklets with residents and families, ensuring all residents have memory boxes and name plates on rooms with a choice of picture or symbol.
* Keep abreast of new developments in the field of caring for older people.
* Foster good community relations and manage the volunteer program in line with the center's policy.
* Assist the DON/Social Care Manager in planning the home's special events such as summer parties, coffee mornings, etc.
Requirements:
* Completed Gerontology/Social Care Degree or minimum QQI/FETAC Level 5 qualification, or currently undertaking QQI/FETAC Level 5 in a Healthcare or Social Care discipline, including Care of the Older Person module.
* Experience in supporting teams assisting residents to live well and supporting normalized social interaction.
* Proven track record with knowledge and experience in the older person care sector.
* Good understanding of the current HIQA standards.
* Experience in Dementia Care.
