purpose of the role: The Dietetics Department provides services to a very broad range of acute medical and surgical specialties throughout TUH.
Senior Dietitians work as in integral part the medical and surgical teams and are responsible for the nutritional care of patients under the care of such teams.
overview of role: Key Duties and Responsibilities Provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients to the area of assignment Work in close collaboration with the other Dietitians assigned to that area and provide cross cover as required Provide expert nutritional advice for the multidisciplinary teams and actively engage with the team by attending ward rounds, conferences, lunch meetings and grand rounds relevant to the area Participate in the design and implementation of protocols/procedures for nutritional screening, referral, assessment and intervention Record statistical information and produce reports as required Supervise Basic Grade Dietitians and participate in their continuing professional training and development Participate in the clinical training of Student Dietitians on placement in the Hospital Participate in the Departments upskilling program for Dietitians which will provide an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills to work in other specialties Participate in the education programs run by the department for hospital staff Be responsible for his/her own professional development and keep abreast of developments in Nutrition and Dietetics Initiate and actively participate in audit and in quality improvement initiatives Contribute to the enhancement of clinical practice through participation in audit and research Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of standards and policies relating to the Nutrition & Dietetic service Contribute to and participate in quality improvement initiatives, undertaken by the department Carry out other duties appropriate to the post, as may be assigned by the Manager of Nutrition & Dietetics Qualifications & Experience required Must: Be registered as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU And Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued Have at least 3 years full time (or equivalent) post qualification clinical dietetic experience Desirable: post qualification clinical dietetic experience in the acute setting Membership of the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic Institute Reward & Recognition Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, grade code 3395 The appointment is permanent, temporary, full time and pensionable The annual leave entitlement is 29 working days per year.
The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days.
Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement
