The Organisation:
Stewarts Care is a long-established voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community-based services to people with intellectual disabilities.
We support people across a wide range of services within residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training.
Purpose of the Post:
To work as part of the Equine Therapy team at Stewarts Care involves assisting the Equine Therapy Manager to develop, organise and implement our Therapeutic Equine Programme.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for riders and horses.
* Assist with general facility upkeep, including cleaning and minor repairs.
* Report any faults with machinery or equipment.
Administrative Tasks:
* Maintain accurate records of horse health.
* Assist with scheduling and organizing sessions.
* Keep good records of session outcomes.
* Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Previous experience as an equine instructor, riding coach, or similar role (minimum 1-2 years preferred).
* Valid riding qualifications (e.g., BHS, ABRS) preferred but not essential.
* Experience working with horses, preferably in a riding school/therapeutic riding environment.
* Strong understanding of equine behaviour, training and handling techniques.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
* Ability to communicate effectively with riders of all ages and abilities.
* Strong stable management skills.
* (This position requires you to be fit to ride and work on the ground with horses daily)
